Job Description:
As a Strategist/Content Writer for the Arizona Wildfire Initiative, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative around complex legislative issues and contributing to meaningful public discourse. Your primary responsibility will be to research, analyze, and craft high-quality content that communicates legislative concepts, policy proposals, and advocacy positions to diverse audiences on the topic of wildland fire. This position requires exceptional writing skills, an understanding of legislative processes in the state of Arizona, and the ability to distill complex information into accessible and engaging content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research on legislative topics, bills, and policy proposals on topics related to wildland fire in Arizona; including tracking bills at local, state, and federal levels.
- Analyze and synthesize legislative documents, reports, and data.
- Provide timely updates and summaries of key legislative actions and identify opportunities for advocacy and communication.
- Content Development:
- Write clear, concise, and persuasive content for a variety of platforms, including articles, reports, op-eds, and press releases.
- Create content that educates and engages diverse audiences while adhering to relevant style guides and brand standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Content Development:
- Assist in the development of materials and messaging on the topic of wildland fire.
- Collaborate with partners to create uniform messaging across the state of Arizona.
- Editing and Proofreading:
- Review and edit content produced by team members for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Ensure adherence to editorial guidelines and quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, journalism, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience in legislative affairs, research and/or content writing.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of legislative processes at various government levels.
- Ability to translate complex information into accessible, engaging content.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for research and content creation.
- Commitment to accuracy, objectivity, and ethical standards in content creation.
