Our newest team member, Wade Axup, has joined the AZWI as our Academic Program Coordinator. Wade has a professional background as a high school science teacher and department administrator. Coming from California, Wade understands the importance of wildfire preparedness and prevention. As a resident in the Santa Cruz Mountains, he experienced CZU Lightning Complex fires of 2020 and saw firsthand how communities prepared for and were affected by wildfire. Upon moving to Arizona to be closer to family, he decided to make a career adjustment and applied to work with us in wildfire science communication. We are glad that he was looking for a change! In his position as Academic Program Coordinator, Wade is the go-to for all AZWI requests and questions. Please join us in welcoming Wade!
